More Highlights of Rainbow Horses

Springston Trophy October 2006. Once again another Rainbow horse in winning team.Above: Rainbow Beaver by Rainbow Appache Two (Kingy) and Leigh Bowie.
October 2005 Rainbow Joshua and Rachel McGregor were in the winning Springston Trophy team. Rainbow Cottonwood and Timara Muirson in the third placed team. In the individual standings Cottonwood and Timara placed fourth. Rainbow Beaver and Leigh Bowie were in the seventh placed team.Other Rainbow Horses who have competed in Springston Trophy are Cocktail, below right. Pyne,Gould, Guiness is the sponsor of the South Island show jumping circuit. Zardos and Sarah Swarbrick have for three years held second place, only separated from the winner by a couple of points. In 2005 they won the circuit and in 06 they won it again, this time leading by eight points. The biggest margin in the time the event has run. Zardos was twenty three years of age in 2006. Zardos is a pony grandson of Rainbow Appache Two(Kingy) Photo of Sarah Swarbrick and Zardo right, blue rails. ----------------------------------- Zardos also proved recently that age is no barrier with his new rider Katie Meredith. They went to the Horse of the Year show and were second in the 1.05 Championship, there were one hundred ponies in the event.They also won the two bar challenge at Amberly A&P show, one jump was 1.30m high, with a spread of 1.20 not bad for an elderly pony at 24yrs. The New Zealand Pony Club Champs are also hosted every year. Above: Rainbow Joshua by Rainbow Appache Two (Kingy) and Rosanna Frankish were part of the winning team in recent years. They were placed first after the dressage through out the event, the team went on to win. Other Rainbow horses who have competed at New Zealand Pony Club Champs are, Surprise, Pomahaka, (Below: Makaroroa and Felicity Daniels) Cottonwood and Timara Muirson are also part of the Canterbury dressage squad for the second year running, they also compete Intermediate level eventing.


Tscemaker Trophy - show jumping N.Z.E.F Tschemaker Trophy is sponsored by McKendry Cars.A number of consecutive years have seen Rainbow Horses dominate this event.The event usually starts off at 1.10m course and gets progressively higher. It generally involves three show jumping rounds, the third round is against the clock, over a very high and wide course with jumps from 1.20m to 1.60m. Above: Rainbow Pomahaka & Nikki Headley have won the event twice. He is by Rainbow Appache Two (Kingy).Makarora: placed first and was ridden by Anna Hedley with Surprise second in 2001. Both jumped from 1.20m to 1.60m, the wall was 1.60. The placings were decided on time as both the Rainbow horses were the only ones left in the third round. Both horses are by Rainbow Appache Two (Kingy)Makaroroa, left photo: won the event again the following year. New Zealand Leader Board Showhunter2003 and 2004 featured Rainbow horsesRainbow Priceless and Fiona Sharp Above: were 7th through New Zealand on the leader board, they were also third at the National show Jumping Champs against two Olympic rider, Greg Best and Merrian Haine. Priceless is By Rainbow Imagine (Ace)Rainbow Rupert and Fiona Sharp were 2nd on the leader board through out New Zealand, Rupert is by Rainbow Imagine (Ace)Rainbow Siesta and Maria Voight were 20th on the leader board through out New Zealand, Siesta is a half sister to Imagine (Ace) both out of Abelene.Rainbow Sukowa and Callum Gibson were sitting 9th on the leader board through the South Island in the Ssangyong Premier Horse High Points. The NationalsAdoris and Liz Montgomery were 1st at the national show jumping Champs in the 1.10 Championship class. Adoris is by Rainbow Imagine (Ace). As mention above Priceless was third at the Nationals as well. Photo below: Adoris and Liz. Also Priceless and Fiona Sharp.
